Karat - what does it mean?
Karat - what does it mean?
Karat indicates how much of the metal is pure gold. The higher the karat, the greater the proportion of pure gold in the ring.
Our wedding bands are available in 9 kt., 14 kt., and 18 kt. gold or white gold. All three karats are suitable for wedding bands, but they have different properties that you should know about before making your choice.
The main difference in the amount of pure gold in the alloy:
9 kt. gold contains 37.5% pure gold
14 kt. gold contains 58.5% pure gold
18 kt. gold contains 75% pure gold

How does karat affect the color?
Karat also means something when we talk about the color of the gold.
18 kt. gold has the deepest and warmest gold color due to the high level of pure gold.
14 kt. gold has a slightly softer gold color, which many people experience as a good balance.
9 kt. gold has a lighter and more neutral tone.
In white gold, the difference in color is less noticeable, as the alloy is designed to give the gold a light and cool tone.
